Horizon Capital portfolio company Juniper Education made national headlines last week with the release of its National Dataset Report which explores the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on primary school children’s learning. It contains an analysis of aggregated anonymised teacher assessment data from more than 5,600 primary schools & 1.4 million pupils between Autumn 2019 to Autumn 2020.
The report sheds light on critical issues related to primary learning such as the impact on disadvantaged children and the impact on different age groups. The path to recovery is also covered in detail as the report draws to its conclusion.
One of its key findings was that although all year groups have struggled to reach age related expectations due to the pandemic, it is the youngest children whose learning has had the most significant drop, particularly those in last year’s Year 1, our current Year 2s.
